| Indiana Developers Submit Bids for Market Square Arena Site
The Metropolitan Development Commission is expected to make its decision by July on two bids submitted for the redevelopment of the former Market Square Arena site in downtown Indianapolis. Developer Kosene & Kosene submitted a bid, as did Market-Ability, Inc., which consists of four Indiana developers. That group is proposing a $150 million, 523,000 square foot mixed-use development that would include a Target store. If the proposal is selected by the City of Indianapolis, the group says it would break ground in October, with completion slated for 2009. Source: Inside INdiana Business .
SGPC seeks to bring back Guru Govind Singh’s plume
CHANDIGARH, April 21: The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) has now decided to bring kalgi (plume) of Guru Gobind Singh, which was taken away by Lord Dalhousie to the Albert Museum of London after annexation of Punjab into British empire. According to SGPC chief Mr Avtar Singh, SGPC is making personal efforts to get back the kalgi of Guru Gobind Singh, sacred to every Sikh. Earlier, the SGPC had drawn flak from the Sikh Sangat for participating in the auction of the 150-year-old bust of Maharaja Duleep Singh in the UK which was later dropped. The SGPC chief has also written a letter to the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, and asked him to help SGPC get back the kalgi from England. On the other hand, the name of the person who had purchased the bust of Maharaja Duleep Singh for Rs 14.45 crore during the auction in Bonhams on 19 April has been kept secret for security reasons.

TORONTO (CP) - A rare Edwardian-era painting that belongs to a Canadian couple is expected to fetch up to US$2.5 million at a Sotheby's auction in New York on Wednesday. The oil-on-canvas piece, called "Gather Ye Rosebuds While Ye May," was painted by well-known British artist John William Waterhouse in 1909 and depicts young women picking flowers in a meadow. The composition comes from the Robert Herrick poem of the same name. The painting was obtained by the unidentified Canadian couple in the early 1970s when they bought an Ontario estate and its entire contents - including the artwork. Sotheby's believes the painting wound up in the house after the previous home owners purchased it from a private Canadian collection. The original owner was Sir Brodie Haldane Henderson in Hertfordshire, England.

Sacramento sheriff auction of Simpson book rights delayed
LOS ANGELES - An auction scheduled for today for the rights to O.J. Simpson's book, "If I Did It," was delayed because the company that originally brokered the book deal between Simpson and a publishing firm filed for bankruptcy, an attorney said.Santa Monica Superior Court Judge Gerald Rosenberg had ordered the auction with the condition that all proceeds from any book that may be published be given to the family of Ronald Goldman, who was slain in Brentwood in 1994 along with Simpson's ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson. Simpson, an ex-USC and NFL star, was charged with the killings but was acquitted in 1995. .
