Hancock Fabrics looks to auction 121 retail leases, 2 fee-owned ...
GREAT NECK, N.Y. Hancock Fabrics., which filed for Chapter 11 reorganization last month, hired real estate consulting company Keen Realty L-L-C to auction 121 retail leases and two fee-owned retail properties. The fee-owned sites are located in Jackson, Mississippi, and Flint, Michigan. Most of the properties _ 101 _ are subject to a bid deadline of June 1st, with an auction scheduled for June 5th. The remaining 22 leases are subject to a deadline of May 18th. Keen officials say the properties may be sold before the auction. Hancock and its subsidiaries filed for Chapter 11 relief in the U-S Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. Chapter 11 is a form of bankruptcy, involving a reorganization of a company's business affairs and assets. Copyright 2007 The Associated Press.
Toll spin-off Asciano to look overseas
Toll Holdings Ltd's proposed infrastructure spin-off, Asciano Ltd, will be seeking opportunities overseas, the new managing director of Asciano, Mark Rowsthorn, said. Mr Rowsthorn said Asciano was already part of a consortium bidding for a rail concession in the Middle East. He would not specify the country or give details. Mr Rowsthorn told reporters that there was scope for Asciano to expand in the transport of bulk commodities via rail in Australia, and there were also opportunities on the wharves given considerable activity in the expansion of ports. "We'll be participating in those," Mr Rowsthorn said. "As time marches on, we've already identified a number of international acquisitions that we'll participate in as well. "There is one particular one which isn't an acquisition - it's really part of a consortium bidding for a concession, a rail concession, in the Middle East.
Cleveland now in bidding for Chiefs' Green
A new team has reportedly surfaced in the bidding for Kansas City quarterback Trent Green, whose agent has previously expressed his strong desire to play for the Dolphins.
Chiefs President/General Manager Carl Peterson told The Kansas City Star on Wednesday that he was approached by Cleveland General Manager Phil Savage about potentially acquiring Green, who is on the trading block.

Experts suggest bidding for broadcasting licenses
Claiming it is the optimal mechanism to preserve diversity and plurality as to information, the joint judge of the Supreme Court of Justice of Colombia, Guillermo Puyana, suggested granting broadcasting licenses through public biddings. His proposal came following his speech at an international seminar taking place in Caracas called "Freedom of Expression in Democratic Societies."
When asked about President Hugo Chávez Government's threat not to renew a broadcasting license for private TV network RCTV, Puyana conceded the State has the capacity to renew licenses or not. However, he suggested that radiofrequencies should be subject to transparent and equitable biddings. "Regarding the issue of RCTV, if I was in a position to choose, I would rather open a bidding process (on the broadcasting license), in order to preserve information diversity."
