Liberty Global, Inc. (NASDAQ: LBTYA) (NASDAQ: LBTYB) (NASDAQ: LBTYK) announced the expiration of its modified Dutch auction self-tender offers to purchase up to 7,142,857 shares of its Series A common stock and up to 7,656,968 shares of its Series C common stock, which expired at 5:00 p.m., New York City time, on April 19, 2007. Based on the preliminary tabulation by the depositary, the Series A tender offer was oversubscribed as approximately 8,024,762 shares of Series A common stock were validly tendered and not withdrawn, including shares subject to guaranteed delivery. The purchase price for the Series A tender offer is $35.00 per share. Liberty Global also announced that it intends to exercise its right to purchase up to an additional 2% of its outstanding Series A common stock in the tender offer without extending the tender offer.
BP and Shell submit bids for UAE sour gas project
DUBAI: Oil majors BP and Royal Dutch Shell have submitted bids for a sour gas project in the United Arab Emirates that could have a price tag as high as $10bn. The UAE holds the world's fifth largest gas reserves, and needs to develop them to meet soaring domestic demand. It and neighbouring Gulf countries are facing rising energy needs as their populations grow and economies expand, fuelled by record oil revenues. “We have made a submission," a BP company spokesman said yesterday. Bids for the project were due in to state-run Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) yesterday. A Shell company source also confirmed that it made a bid. Industry sources said that France's Total and US Occidental Petroleum had also submitted bids. Adnoc invited bids from several other companies including BG Group, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Exxon Mobil and Japan Oil Development Co.
Auction kicks off PrairieFest preparation
The first event of the 2007 arts festival is the annual fundraiser, a Blues and Barbeque party set for April 27 at Ark City Dance. The evening begins with a brisket meal, followed by a live auction. The Howlerz will be on hand to entertain with fantastic blues after the auction. There are many items that will be up for auction, including six VIP passes to the Strother Field Air Show, coming up this summer. The passes include parking, the BBQ, and the evening's show. The Howlerz, a fun new blues band is comprised of four familiar musicians including Jan Hatfield, Clayton Crawford, Lee Velasquez and Kirk Russell. They will take the stage at about 9 p.m.
Wellcome Trust enters the bidding fray for Alliance Boots
The Wellcome Trust, the world's largest medical research charity, has waded into the battle for Alliance Boots by teaming up with the private equity group Terra Firma to launch a bid for the retailer. The charity and Terra Firma, which is owned by the financier Guy Hands, have asked for permission to examine the company's books to conduct due diligence. Employees at the private equity firm were thought to have been in their London office over the holiday weekend working on the details of the potential offer. .
